Our customer is a leading food processing firm that has been successfully doing business for over a century. With a current focus on private label products, they are one of the largest providers of packaged food products in the US.

- Reporting Tool - Qlikview/QlikSense Cloud
The Business Requirement
Our customer was in the need for a tool which can report, access DB, flat files, in-line tables and reach other visualization reporting requirements. Earlier, they used little dashboards with a bottom-up implementation architecture. Due to multiple QVDs, scripts and connections it was difficult to handle IT governance.
Through a centralized QlikView Enterprise server and QlikSense, the customer was able to achieve advanced visualization capabilities and self-service BI which became much more cost efficient.
Our Solution and Support
Miracle's Data Services team was able to assess the customer's current scenario and offer them suggestions around what approach to take to achieve their goals. The recommendation of QlikSense involved analyzing the requirements versus the tools offerings to ensure that it matched the customer's needs.
- Implemented solution in a phased approach,
- Phase #1 involved moving the visualization layer from Qlikview to QlikSense along with Data Governance and Security
- Phase #2 involved Data layer migration and conversion along with Data standardization and master data management best practices
- Minimal impact to the business was achieved as part of the implementation,
as the underlying data structures QVD remained same
Qlikview Implementation and Qlikview to QlikSense Migration
- Our data services team was able to provide consulting, approach and implementation for a successful Qlikview to QlikSense migration in phases
- QlikSense desktop version 3.2 was used for the conversion of Qlikview 11.0 documents and dashboards to QlikSense apps
- Access to the QlikSense 3.2 Dev Hub was used to convert the QVW files to QlikSense QVF
- The tool converts visualizations, dimensions, measures, parameters and variables
- The converter tool converts visualizations to the best extent possible and will create master objects on the ones chosen for export

- We have assisted in providing technical guidance, support and training to the database administration staff and provided evaluation on their technical proficiency
Folder Structure Details
- The refresh batch file is located under the QVD Generator folder, which can be scheduled using windows task scheduler
- The connection configuration is located under the include folder
- The generated QVDs will be saved under QVD folder - or any other user-defined location in include/connection.txt file
- The QVF (QlikSense Code file) is location under the QVF Folder
